PGMA's spokesperson to grace ID celeb in Bacolod
Deputy Presidential Spokesperson and Presidential Assistant for Central Luzon Maria Lorelie Fajardo will be the guest speaker of 111thIndependence Day (ID)celebration in Bacolod City on June 12.
Councilor Homer Bais, chairman of the Independence Day Committee, said it was confirmed by no less than Fajardo when the mayor invited her early last week.
Before she was designated as Deputy Presidential Spokesperson and Presidential Assistant for Central Luzon, Fajardo was then the Chief of Staff of Rep. Pacifico M. Fajardo (1995-2001); City Mayor of Palayan City, Nueva Ecija (2001-2004) and Office of the Presidential Chief of Staff Assistant Secretary (2006-2007).
Fajardo also received various awards like Gabriela Silang Award (Highest award for Pre-Commission Training); Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Magsaysay, Palayan City (2004); Sharpshooter Award, Camp Fort Magsaysay, Palayan City (2004); Recipient, League of Cities of the Philippines Ten Best Practices; Top Twenty Buklod Barangay (2004); City Mayor of the Year – Filipino Journal (2002-2003); Outstanding City Mayor – Competence and management Excellence Award; Department of Interior and Local Government, Region III (2003);
Nueva Ecija Division entry, Most Functional Community Learning Resource Center, Department of Education, Region III (2003); Recipient of Top Ten 1st League of Cities of the Philippine’s Best Practices Award for “Smile Bilis Serbisyo Action Program” (2002); and 2001 Gawad pangulo sa Kapaligiran, Region III for Inland Bodies of Water,

In an executive order Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the participation of both government and private sectors shall be encouraged for a more meaningful celebration.
“Every June 12, we commemorate the Proclamation of Philippine Independence which took place in Kawit, Cavite in year 1898,” he added.
Pursuant to Republic Act 9492-2007 and Presidential Proclamation 1463-2008, Independence Day this year will be celebrated on Friday, June 12. “The City of Bacolod joins the whole nation in celebrating the 111th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Philippine Independence,” Leonardia stressed.
Aside from Bais, the 111th Independence Day committee includes Councilor Al Victor Espino as vice chair with councilors Greg Gasataya, Celia Matea Flor and Wilson Gamboa Jr., Imogene Kana-an, Eduardo Ravena, Annabelle Badajos, Engr. Teresita Guadalupe, Arch. Lemuel Reynaldo, Dr. Milagros Gonzales, P/Supt. Leo Erwin Agpangan, Engr. Efren Canlas, Engr. Melvin Recabar, Santiago Adorio Jr., Atty. Vicente Petierre III, P/Insp. Levy Pangue, P/Insp. Luisito Acebuche, Lorna Entuna, EA Edwina Javier, EA Joemarie Vargas, EA Butch Soliguen, Erman Aguirre, and Ruby Pelagio as members. The secretariat will be composed of EA Reynaldo Ebreo, Conchita Castillo, Regina Pudadera, Alfonso Federez, Judith Dumagat and Julius Coloso.
This year, a very unique celebration will be launched to the public. According to Bais a total of at least 9,000 people will be wearing t-shirts and caps to reflect flag colors and will form a “human flag”.
A helicopter will take aerial photos of the “human flag” which according to the committee, is the first in the Philippines.
