MIGEDC’s joint coordinating committee meeting set
The Metro Iloilo-Guimaras Economic Development Council- Japan International Cooperation Agency (MIGEDC-JICA) is holding its annual Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) Meeting in this city starting at 1:30 p.m. on June 18, 2009.
The JCC was established by the Memorandum of Agreement between the MIGEDC and JICA in extending a grant to the former in addressing the expressed need to improve transportation and traffic management in the Metro Iloilo-Guimaras (MIG).
As defined in the MOA, the JCC’s functions are as follows: approval of the Annual Implementation Plan, the monitoring of the Project and the discussion of related issues and problems of the project’s implementation.
The JCC is chaired by Governor Niel Tupas of the Iloilo province, one of the beneficiaries of the grant.
Expected to attend the meeting are members of the Committee that include top local officials of other LGUs that benefit from the grant such as Iloilo City and Guimaras, Heads of concerned agencies, persons or agencies who are invited by the Chairperson and the Technical Working Group for the MTMI-MIG Project from local government unit’s concerned.
Among the highlights of the meeting is the taking up of the Project Design Matrix (PDM) which was modified on September 2, 2008 as well as the extent of the accomplishments of the MTMI-MIG project on transportation and traffic management so far undertaken in the light of the new PDM.
The meeting is also expected to yield ideas and suggestions that will provide the mechanisms for the sustainability of the project after it phase-out in September 2010.
During the meeting, JICA will award seven (7) units of desktop computers cumprinters to each MIGEDC LGUs. Through these sets of computers, TWG members of the LGUs are expected will able to undertake benchmarking, GIS and other computer related technical processes involved in traffic management and control.
