Comelec reg'l chief denies hand on Majarucon's transfer
BACOLOD CITY -- Commission on Elections (Comelec) regional director Atty. Dennis Ausan denied the allegation of former Bacolod City Election Officer Mavil Majarucon that he instigated the latter's transfer to Bago City.
In a radio interview, Ausan said he is not that powerful to dictate upon the Comelec en banc matters relative to reassignment of election supervisors.
Ausan stressed that Majarucon is making it appear that he has something to do with her reassignment, which, he said, is completely not true.
“I have nothing against Majarucon and see no reason to seek her reassignment,” he added.
Ryan Castro of the Comelec Region 6 - Legal Department replaced Majarucon as officer-in-charge.
Ausan also defended Castro saying that the latter may have worked in Comelec for more than a year but the number of months is not an accurate indicator of how he can handle or manage the position of an Election Officer.
Castro in 2008 was assigned as Provincial Election Supervisor of Antique and he was able to manage his job well, Ausan said.
Ausan also denied the statement of Majarucon that he is behind the transfer of Aklan Provincial Election Supervisor (PES) Ian Ananoria and Iloilo PES Beth Doronila.
Majarucon on Monday issued a statement that Ausan's allegations against her especially on partisanship are not true, baseless, unsubstantiated, malicious and only a figment of his imagination for the purpose of harassing her.
Majarucon added she has not even seen the alleged complaint against her.
Majarucon said she got the ire of Ausan because of her refusal to attend last year's regional sportsfest and Christmas party in Capiz and for refusing to sell raffle tickets which was initiated by Ausan to subsidize the event.
Ausan, however, denied that Majarucon's transfer was related to her non-participation in their sportsfest and Christmas party last year.
Ausan said the activity was sanctioned by the Comelec and the Capiz Association paid for it. He also said that he solicited from his friends.
Majarucon claimed that her reassignment was premature, citing Section 56 of the Omnibus Election Code because reassignment usually happen a month before the election period.
