Adidas provides shoes for Iloilo out-of-school youth
The out-of-school youth of Iloilo City have a reason to smile these days. They are sporting good condition athletics shoes, thanks to the efforts of Adidas.
Last May, Adidas initiated “Wanted Old Shoes”, a drive that gathered shoes carrying any brand names from the public. So many donations were made at the Adidas Robinsons Place Iloilo branch owned by Jerry and Virgie Uy. Last June 6, these shoes were turned over to the OSYs through the City Social Welfare and Development.

No less than Myx veejay Drei Felix headed the Adidas team in fulfilling the said company's social responsibility. He's no stranger to sports, being an ABS-CBN Sports reporter for the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
“Adidas had been enjoying gracious years and it's time to return the favor to the Ilonggos for supporting the brand,” said Felix.
“I'm fortunate to be a part of the Adidas family. It's true what they say that 'parang laging Christmas sa Adidas.' The working atmosphere is great. There's so much giving and smiling despite our trying times,” he added.
Such giving had elicited smiles from several OSYs who were present during the turnover of the shoes. They were quite excited in having shoes that are in good condition especially when they are set to compete in the National PIYAP Life Skills Encampment sports activities in Las Piñas City on October 20 to 24, 2009. PIYAP stands for Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines.
