WV unemployed workers to receive P9.46M for livelihood assistance
Some 24 checks worth P9.46 million will be released by the Department of Labor and Employment 6 (DOLE 6) to unemployed and rank-and-file workers in Western Visayas for their livelihood projects.
The 24 checks under the Capacity-Building Program for Livelihood Formation and Livelihood Restoration of DOLE will be turned-over to some 2,463 beneficiaries on Friday, June 12, as part of the 111th Independence Day celebration in the region at Amigo Plaza Mall.
It can be recalled that for this year’s Independence Day celebration, PGMA has directed her cabinet secretaries to implement the Comprehensive Livelihood Emergency Employment Program which is part of the government’s economic resiliency plan addressing the global financial crisis rather than holding the traditional parade of floats, marches and flag waving.
In a press report, DOLE 6 Regional Director Aida M. Estabillo said the funds will enable the unemployed and rank-and-file workers to engage in enterprise undertaking that would augment their incomes.
DOLE 6 reported that among these funded projects are Photocopying Services of the Western Institute of Technology Teaching and Non-Teaching Employees Association (WITTNTEA) and Swine Raising, Duck Raising, Food and Fish Vending, among others, of the informal sector workers, sugar workers and farmers.
