Attn: TMEU chief Bob Foerster
From an e-mail sender: This is to criticize the present traffic scheme outside Assumption Iloilo. I am from Molo and my daughter is studying at Assumption Iloilo. Every morning, I personally drive her to school and we usually take the Gen Luna route. For us coming from Molo, the Gen. Luna route is the most convenient both in time and gas. But this Monday, I was surprised that we can no longer turn left and enter the gate (fronting Quezon St.) of the school and we have to go as far as the Atrium to do the left turn. I cannot see the logic of the new traffic scheme that instead of decongesting the traffic by letting us go thru the gate right away and not let us join the already jammed and congested area in front of the Atrium.
Wasting people's money
A Manila-based lawyer Ernesto B. Francisco Jr. yesterday filed a taxpayer’s suit for injunction and mandamus (with prayer for TRO) before the RTC of Manila to stop the use of public funds by certain high-ranking government officials in their tri-media political campaign. Atty. Francisco said their acts is not only unlawful, immoral and unethical, such is also despicable considering that while they are throwing away and wasting hundreds of millions of pesos in people’s money for their own personal use, millions of Filipinos are suffering from hunger, unemployment, lack of medical care and medication, lack of education and educational facilities, and lack of housing, to name a few. Below is the computation of paid advertisements in leading daily newspapers by the following government officials:
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo: 20 days in March-June 2009 – P12,837,456.36
Health Secretary Francisco Duque: 11 days in April-June 2009 - P2,207,883.00
Vice-President Noli De Castro: 2 days in May-April 2009 – P1,285,482.96
Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman: 2 days in June 2009 - P1,199,313
Other officials included in the charge sheet are: DND Secretary Gilberto “Gibo” C. Teodoro, Jr.; DepEd Secretary Jesli A. Lapus; TESDA Director General Augusto “Tito Boboy” Syjuco; and PAGCOR Chairman Efraim “Kuya Efren” C. Genuino.
Indeed, what a waste of people's money!
