Tour guiding course to be conducted in July
The 1stNegros Tour Guiding Course will be conducted in Bacolod City from July 18 to September 19.
Designed by the Negros Island Tourism, Inc. (NITI), this intensive course will be held on 10 consecutive Saturdays and will include modules on such topics of relevance to Negros, such as the history of the province, the origins of the names of its towns and cities, architectural elements in some of its prominent buildings, the story of the sugar industry, folk dances and folk songs in Negros, the biodiversity on the island, the story of the Association of Negros Producers and its impact on Negrense economic life.
The course will include a full day workshop on speech and communication, a full day workshop on the technical aspects of tour guiding and a technical lecture on sugarcane production at the SRA lab in La Granja.
To reinforce the lessons, there will also be actual guided visits to museums, churches, ancestral mansions and important government buildings. Registration fee is at P4,000 per person and slots are limited to the first 40 registrants.
