Experiment for San Dionesio route extension on
BACOLOD CITY -- Sangguniang Panglungsod unanimously approved last week the request of San-Dionesio-Bacolod Drivers Operator's Association (SABADOA) to conduct a 45-day traffic experiment on the San Dionesio-Central Market route.
Sangguniang Panglungsod Member Wilson Gamboa Jr. said Traffic Management Unit (TMU) chief Sr. Inspector Luisito Acebuche presented a "two-way Traffic Plan" for San Dionesio passengers who want that their route be extended to downtown area. Acebuche asserts that the first option that SABADOA will follow is from their "point of origin" to Burgos St. and turn left to BBB-Galo and again turn left to Mabini St. and turn right to Gonzaga-Locsin and back to Galo St. and back to their point of origin.
Acebuche also said that the second option is still the same but the route will be extended to Burgos St. once the passenger jeepney goes back to its point of origin.
On the other hand, Sangguniang Panglungsod Member Homer Bais questions the new route since Galo-Lacson St. is congested with both public and private vehicles. Acebuche however clarified that the traffic scheme is only experimental, meaning it could still be changed if problems arise later on.
The new route extension was drafted in answer to the complaints of San Dionesio residents that they are having a “double ride” since their route is only until Burgos St. although most of them work at the downtown area or within the heart of the city.
