DOH 6 opens public assistance unit
All frontline services of the Department of Health (DOH 6) in Western Visayas will now be accessible to the public following the inauguration of their public assistance unit, recently.
Director Ariel Valencia of DOH 6 said that the unit will serve as a one stop-shop where various front line transactions will be efficiently attended to by the assigned personnel of the Department.
The unit which is situated at the ground floor of the DOH 6 Regional Office in Mandurriao, Iloilo City was inaugurated by Civil Service Commissioner Cesar D. Buenaflor, DOH Assistant Secretary Paulyn Jean Rosell Ubial, and Director Valencia.
Director Valencia said the establishment of public assistance unit is a response to the government’s Anti-Red Tape campaign “na kailangan ang front line services natin are accessible to the public”.
For his part, Commissioner Buenaflor said that the Anti-Red Tape Act is one of the measures of the government to address graft and corruption.
“The government is to serve and protect the people”, said Buenaflor, “that is why we are guided by the principle of accountability and in the concept that the public office is based on public trust”.
Meanwhile, officials and employees of the Office of the President (OP) launched OP-Moral Renewal Action Plan (OP-MRAP), recently. This is a priority program of the t Arroyo administration which aims to achieve zero tolerance from graft and corruption, and help improve the government’s public perception.
It will be recalled that President Arroyo signed AO 255 on January 30 this year, directing all Cabinet officials and head of agencies to adopt and implement a Moral Renewal Program in their respective departments and agencies.
The AO cited Section 1 of Article of the 1987 Philippine Constitution which provides that “public office is a public trust and that public officers and employees must, at all times, be accountable to the people, serve them with utmost responsibility, integrity, loyalty, and efficiency, act with patriotism and justice, and lead modest lives”.
