31st National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation week starts
BACOLOD CITY -- The Bacolod City Government's Council for the Welfare of Disabled Persons started yesterday the weeklong celebration for the 31st National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation week at SM City Bacolod.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, together with the other city officials, led the celebration yesterday that started with a mass and a parade dubbed as "angel walk".
Leonardia lauded the City Council for the Welfare of Disabled Persons for initiating activities that are aimed at promoting the welfare of the PWDs. He also recognized the PWDs who prove themselves to be useful members of the society despite their disabilities.
Series of activities are lined up for the weeklong celebration including COMELEC registration at the BAYS center for PWDs, senior citizens and pregnant women, medical mission at the Bacolod City National High School, reflexology, symposium on Republic Act 9442, job fair, free massage therapy and cultural presentation.
The weeklong celebration is organized by the CWDP in coordination with SM Bacolod.
