66 cops seek entrance in the PNP Lateral Entry Program
Sixty six police non-commissioned officers (PNCOs) of Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) took the competitive examinations for PNP Lateral Entry Program held in Cebu City recently.
As announced earlier, PRO6 is allotted with 47 slots in about 2,000 vacancies in the Police Senior Inspector (PSInsp) and Police Inspector (PInsp) positions based on the PNP rank profile as of March 31, 2009.
This recruitment via Lateral Entry Program is aimed to maintain the pyramidal structure of the PNP rank profile.
Applicants for the program are slated for either Line Officer or Technical Officer positions.
License in Criminology is a basic requirement for line officer position, while technical officer position are for lawyers, doctors, priests/imams/pastors, dentists, Civil Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Geodetic Engineers, Architects, Information Technologists, Forensic Chemists, Psychologists, and also criminologists.
PRO6 director, Police Chief Superintendent Isagani Cuevas, said the rank of Police Officer III (POIII) is the minimum requirement for all in-service applicants, except for members of Special Action Force who must at least have the rank of POII.
He also said that civilians applying for Technical Line positions must necessarily possess the number of years of experience in the field of expertise as so required by the respective PNP National Support Units.
