New Bacolod traffic czar eyes inventory of traffic aides
BACOLOD CITY -- Newly-appointed Bacolod Traffic Authority head Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson is set to conduct an inventory of the traffic enforcers and aides in the City of Bacolod.
Sayson said he already started meeting the different stakeholders and will meet today with the Bacolod Traffic Authority and Traffic Management unit officials.
He said that as of this time, only a few is seen on the streets. "I understand that there are 120 traffic enforcers being employed by the city and I want to see them."
He observed that some intersections here have no traffic aides and sometimes the traffic lights malfunction.
Sayson said he is still on the process of synchronizing the different departments involved in the traffic. “I appeal to the public to bear with me with this transition," he said.
He said the inventory of traffic aides is necessary because they are the most important component in traffic management.
Sayson's appointment as representative of Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia to the Bacolod Traffic Authority, took effect on July 16, 2009.
His appointment does not run in contrast with Councilor Jun Gamboa who is the Sangguniang Panlungsod Chairman of the Committee on Transportation.
"Gamboa is on the legislative side and I am on the enforcement," he said.
