Police seek help of NBI cartographer
Police investigators will ask the assistance of a cartographer from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to give them an idea how the suspect in the murder of a 27-year old gay looks like. In the absence of a witness, police has no positive identification of the suspect until this time. Though, they received information on the alias allegedly used by the suspect.
The cartographic sketch of the suspect as well as of his three other companions will probably lead the investigators in identifying the suspect in the death of Herbert Lachica of Barangay Malipayon, City Proper. The victim’s companions will provide the cartographic artist the descriptions that fit the look of the suspect, said Senior Inspector Danilo delos Santos, chief of police of Molo police station.
Lachica’s gay friends believe the man who went along with the victim have something to do with the killing. The victim left his other gay friends 3 a.m. of Sunday and joined a male person whom they met inside Molo plaza. The three other companions of the suspect remained with Lachica’s friends. The victim and his gay friends came from a birthday party before they decided to go the Molo plaza to enjoy. There are rides and fun fares inside the Molo plaza as the district celebrates its patronal fiesta on July 26.
The victim was found dead about 5:30 a.m. Sunday in front of the Iloilo City Development Bank (ICDB), a stones throw away from the police station and the plaza. Police said the victim has 13 fatal stab wounds on the different parts of his body. The fatal stab wound on his chest measuring 18 centimeters led to the victim’s death. He has abrasions and incised wounds too. The victim’s mobile phone and MP5 was missing when he was found dead.
De los Santos said Lachica’s gay friends can identify the suspect and his three male companions once they can see them again. The artist sketch will possibly lead the investigators in tracing the suspect. Police have received several versions on the identity of the suspect but there is no witness that could pinpoint on the suspect. The alias given to the police on the alleged identity of the suspect is not enough proof. There are several persons who used the same aliases.
The police will file the appropriate cases against the suspect as soon the NBI has come up with the sketch of the suspect. Nevertheless, the police are exerting effort to solve the murder of Lachica, said De los Santos.
