Poll automation info campaign in Capiz set
ROXAS CITY – The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) will conduct a poll automation information campaign on July 24 afternoon at the Mass Communications Production Room of Colegio dela Purisima Concepcion here.
COMELEC Regional Director Dennis Jausan will lead the campaign that is also scheduled to be held in other provinces in the region.
“The campaign targets our first time voters like students but anybody can come,” said COMELEC Provincial Election Supervisor lawyer Wil Arceño.
A press conference has also been set by the COMELEC Provincial Office to brief and solicit the support of local tri-media practitioners in the dissemination of the poll automation that is strongly supported by President Gloria Macapagal – Arroyo’s administration.
Press Secretary Cerge M. Remonde said in a recent press briefing that Malacañang is consistent with its desire to attain poll automation and that President Arroyo has earlier reiterated that there will be elections next year.
Malacañang, he added, trusts the Supreme Court in handling controversial cases. He was referring to the recent action of the Concerned Citizens Movement asking the Supreme Court to stop the Commission on Elections from releasing payments for the automation project.
“We believe that Supreme Court knows what is best, and they know how to handle the particular issues,” he noted. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
