307 sachets of shabu recovered in raid
Police officers and anti-drugs operatives recovered 307 sachets of suspected shabu during a raid at a house situated in a crowded residential area just outside the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 headquarters Wednesday afternoon.
The raid also resulted in the arrest of a top drug personality in the city.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency regional director Paul Ledesma said that they also recovered cash amounting to P22,000, drug paraphernalia, mobile phones and other items which authorities believe were proceeds of the illegal drug trade, from the house of Jonard Maloto, alyas Budoc Gonzales.
Maloto is reported to be included in the top ten of suspected drug personalities in Iloilo City.
Also arrested along with Maloto was 50-year-old Arnel Maloto. Jopher Maloto, who was also named in the search warrant, remained at large.
The raiding team, composed of Philippine National Police officers and PDEA agents, earlier secured a warrant from Judge Danilo Galvez to search the house at Zone 6, Brgy. Veteran’s Village, City Proper for alleged violation of the Republic Act 9165.
The warrant was served at around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday by operatives from the PNP’s Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Group, the Waterfront Detachment, and the PDEA.
