Pilar police chief survives slay try of ‘Tadtad gang’ member
The police chief of Pilar, Capiz was shot and wounded by an alleged member of ‘Tadtad gang’ in an early morning shoot-out Sunday.
The incident occurred during the benefit dance at Barangat Sinamungan of said municipality with the victim Police Inspector Nacer Canja sustaining a gunshot wound at the neck.
He was rushed to the St. Anthony Hospital for medical treatment where he is now declared out of danger.
Authorities identified the suspect as Jelo Tamayo, 42, a suspected member of the “Tadtad gang” which gained notoriety following its supposed “bullet-proof” bodies. “Tadtad gang” is also reportedly affiliated with the equally notorious “Ilaga group” in Mindanao.
Ex-Pilar Mayor Gideon “Ike” Patricio revealed that elements of Pilar PNP conducted an ‘operation bakal’ to the benefit dance goers last Sunday Morning where they discovered that Tamayo had a firearm.
According to Patricio, Tamayo run away to avoid being arrested and then fired his .38 caliber toward the arresting police.
Tamayo, Patricio added, fired 3 times then stopped that led Canja to presume the suspect no longer had bullets. A wrong assumption when Tamayo managed to make the fourth shot hitting the police chief on his neck.
Tamayo, who was captured, is still detained at the Pilar PNP Station pending appropriate charges to be filed by police.
