TESDA completes 1st phase of work sked, over 800,000 scholarships distributed nationwide
The Philippines is richer in government scholars numbering to a total of 809,800. This, as said exact number of scholarship grants were distributed nationwide by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
As such, TESDA now says “first phase” of its work has been completed with the August workload now geared towards “jobs bridging” of these scholars.
In a news statement sent to The News Today (TNT), Secretary Augusto Boboy Syjuco said that TESDA personnel will start going out on the field “and nurture each of the scholars not only to maximize the Kagalingan, Kaalaman at Kasanayan that they will derive from the scholarship courses but now also to connect them to JOBS.”
“TESDA’s work for the remaining balance of this year is Jobs Bridging for the scholars for employment both locally and abroad. Jobs bridging is assistance given to scholars in finding employment thru referral to or matching with employers/companies looking for skilled workers,” the Secretary said. “Hence, there is no shortage of scholarships. We are right on target.”
To date, TESDA is operating at maximum capacity of what we can handle, utilizing its full resources. Those on “queue” will need to wait till January 2010 when the new budget for scholarships comes again.
“Our function is not only to distribute scholarships but also to take care of the scholars until they find employment. The next step is jobs bridging,” Secretary Syjuco stressed.
