City Hall pushes safety measures on gas stations
The city government here has started implementing the rules and regulations governing the business of retailing Liquid Petroleum Products (LPP).
This, after the Department of Energy conducted with the personnel of City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) the information and education campaign on retailing rules and training on compliance monitoring of LPP retail outlets July 16.
“We have to familiarize ourselves with the rules and regulations on retailing of liquid petroleum products and empower the City Government to monitor the right quantity and safety of the same,” DOE Visayas director Antonio Labios said.
“The city government is very supportive and we are happy of the cooperation,” he added.
Thus, the city government and DOE sealed strong partnership for the implementation of the precautionary measures in handling petroleum products for the welfare and safety of the consumers.
Mayor Jerry Treñas was elated that CTO personnel have been trained to monitor the correct calibration of LPP dispensing pumps.
He said the knowledge and skills they have acquired will equip them the expertise on scrutinizing the security of LPP dispensers for the best interest of consumers and promotion of public safety.
The mayor also thanked DOE for donating a 10-liter calibrating bucket to the city government.
“This will be a big help to our efforts to advocate public safety and consumer protection as well as promote healthy competition among local retailers who have been our partners for a progressive city,” said Treñas. (PNA)
