Opportunities to travel industry, tourism
BACOLOD CITY — The Baclod City Tourism Office through Imogene S. Kana-an is inviting those current and future owners of travel agencies, travel assistants and all interested in the travel and tourism business.
Kanaan said that there is a 3-day seminar on Travel Agency Operations Course on August 26-28, 2009 in Intramuros, Manila.
It will cover relevant topics to the travel business such as “How to open a New Travel Agency, Air Fare/ticketing, Inbound and Local Tour Operations, Tour Management and Tour Costing”.
The seminar is organized by the Asia Pacific Tourism Training Institute of Manila with seminar fee of P8,000.00 inclusive of hand-outs, lunch, a.m. & p.m. snacks and certificate of completion accredited by the Department of Tourism.
“It is designed to meet the growing demand for well-trained staff in the travel industry,” Kanaan added.
Meanwhile, recently this month the first Tour Guiding Course of the Negros Island Tourism Inc. opened at the Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Members of the Women in Travel attended with choreographer and event manager, Rene Hinojales talked on creating the wow factor in the management of tours.
Records from the Regional Development Council revealed that the tourism industry suffered a tremendous blow in 2008 andas a result of the financial crunch worldwide.
Preliminary reports show that tourist arrivals dropped by 14.8 percent during the year, compared to 2007.
The number of domestic tourists sharply fell by 26.4 percent but good to foreign tourists because it increased by 3.5 percent.
