Padagyaw Festival of Dumarao slated August 1-5
DUMARAO, Capiz –This town under the stewardship of Mayor Leslie Warren “Beboy” Benjamin will celebrate a municipal and religious fiesta with Padagyaw Festival on August 1-5.
Benjamin told The News Today (TNT) that a week-long fiesta in honor of Nuestra Señora De las Nieves will be celebrated with the following activities: August 1 is opening salvo, fiesta ng Bayan, blessing of newly constructed bridge in Dumarao and in the evening will be the DepEd night.
On August 2, Barangay night for 33 barangays with Mrs. Jane “Baby” Castro, wife of 2nd District Cong. Fredenil Castro, Former Department of Agriculture (DA) Usec. Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante and former City Councilor Mark Ortiz as guests.
On August 3, in the morning, there will be free vaccine for animals of Dumaraonons and in the evening, the senior citizen’s night where members and officers will be given gifts from the municipality; August 4, coronation of fiesta queen and on August 5 is the fiesta proper.
Mayor Benjamin, son of Former Mayor Heracleo “Bebot” Benjamin, vowed to bring more development in his town.
He was the first one to deliver his State of Municipal Address (SOMA) among mayors of Capiz province last March 31, 2009.
In his 5-page SOMA, Benjamen said that he is guided with image and strive for vision as “self-progressive, self-reliant Dumarao through agro-industrialization & eco-tourism.”
He also assured that all plans, programs and accomplishments for the year that passed were geared towards the attainment of such a desirable condition in the future.
Benjamen said that one of the highlights was that his administration was able to put up municipal hall extension in Bgry. Dacuton where residents need not go to the town to get their business permits, licenses like marriage license, etc. His administration also helped underprivileged but deserving students with scholarship.
