Tadtad member who shot Pilar police chief, commits suicide
ROXAS CITY – An alleged member of the “Tadtad”, a cult movement, who was charged of frustrated homicide and illegal possession of firearm before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office here for the shooting of Pilar police chief, committed suicide.
Jaylou Tamayo, 42, of Sitio Solidad Brgy. Sinamungang, was found lifeless last Thursday afternoon inside the jail of Pilar Police Station after he hanged himself with blanket.
Police said that Tamayo was in trouble and became not in good terms thinking of his case in connection with the police. He reportedly urged the police to shoot him inside the police station.
Tamayo shot Inspector Nasser Canja, Pilar police chief, last July 26 during a benefit dance in Barangay Sinamungan, Pilar, Capiz when the latter and his men conducted an operation “bakal” among dance goers to maintain peace and order.
However, when the police discovered that Tamayo was carrying a gun, Tamayo ran away and fired three times toward the arresting police.
Thinking that Tamayo already ran out of bullets, Canja tried to pursue the suspect who then shot back hitting Canja on the neck.
Canja was immediately brought to the St. Anthony Hospital for medical treatment where he was declared out of danger.
