LP to oppose Ugyon Capiz bets in 2nd district
ROXAS CITY – Liberal Party (LP) will field candidates for board member in the second district of Capiz against bets coming from Ugyon Capiz, a reliable source told The News Today (TNT).
LP will be fielding lawyer Mario Niel San Felix; Aldwin Cruz Am, father of incumbent Board Member Vincent Fritz Cruz Am; Dr. Antonio Arciga; and Cris Andaya, son of 2nd district Cong. Vicente Andaya, who also served as Liga president and ex-officio board member.
San Felix, Cruz Am and Arciga are third termer board members while Andaya also served as board member for several terms. Incumbent Board Member Winston Advincula, who was former mayor of Jamindan, will also seek reelection against Ugyon Capiz bets.
Ugyon Capiz under the leadership of 2nd District Cong. Fredenil Castro and former Department of Agriculture (DA) Usec. Jocelyn “Jocjoc’ Bolante earlier revealed their bets for board members of 2nd district: Dao Vice Mayor James Magbanua; Lawyer Henry Reyes, son of Ex-Gov. Antonio Reyes and brother of Ex Board Member Gaudencio Reyes; Former Jamindan Mayor Milo Robles, former Bank Manager Jeffrey Layo and Dr. Mimi Ardivilla, wife of incumbent Board Member Gilbert Ardivilla.
Castro is pushing his wife Mrs. Jane Castro for 2nd district congressional race while Bolante will run as governor with former City Councilor Mark Ortiz as his running-mate.
The same source added that LP led by Sen. Mar Roxas will field reelectionists Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr and 1st District Cong. Antonio del Rosario, while Board Member Esteban “Nonoy” Contreras will be their bet for vice governor and bets for first district board member: businessman Romulo Capunong, President Roxas Mayor Rosauro Buenafe, Provincial Prosecutor Ceron Delfin, former City Councilor Eduardo Magallanes and Lawyer Catalan.
Meanwhile, Board Member Rommel Lastimoso may no longer run for reelection as he will help campaign for his father former PNP chief and Metro Rail Transit (MRT) manager Roberto Lastimoso who will run for congressman of second district.
Board Member Raymund Locsin on the other hand will run for mayor of President Roxas and Board Member Alfonso Bediones will be the Western Visayas coordinator for Sen. Roxas’s presidential bid in 2010 election.
The bets of Ugyon Capiz in the 1st district: congressman, Vice Gov. Felipe Barredo, and for board members: City Councilor Ramon Albar, Pontevedra Vice Mayor Noame Dumapig, Dr. Cesar Yap, and former Board Member Blesilda “Gingging” Almalbis.
