Mambusao mayor threatens to withdraw support to Roxas if...
MAMBUSAO, Capiz – “If it’s true that Sen. Mar Roxas will support my opponent in mayorship of this town then I’ll withdraw my support to his presidential bid in 2010 election,” Mayor Jose “Joe” Alba revealed to The News Today (TNT) yesterday.
Alba, who is a political ally of 2nd Dsitrict Cong. Fredenil Castro and Sen. Roxas, said he will support somebody else for president if Roxas will endorse his opponent.
Alba said nine mayors in the 2nd district, including himself, share the same sentiment.
“We are still committed to support Sen. Mar Roxas as Capizeño who will run for president,” Alba said, adding that Roxas and Castro should iron out political differences on the table.
A reliable source said that Board Member Nenita Martilino, a former Mambusao vice mayor, will be fielded by Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr. to oppose Alba in the next election. Martilino’s running mate would be lawyer Lupher Martinez.
Earlier, Mr. Zoe Herrera, provincial administrator and a Roxas ally, warned all political allies that they will be kicked out from local coalition should they will support former Department of Agriculture (DA) Usec. Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante’s gubernatorial bid in 2010 election.
Bolante is the opponent of Gov. Tanco, who is Roxas’s bet, in the next election.
The provincial administrator also said that those who are with Bolante are considered political enemies of the senator.
It was learned that Castro and Bolante have united politically against Gov. Tanco’s line up both in the 1st and 2nd districts of Capiz.
Tanco, Castro and Sen. Roxas were allies in previous elections.
In related development, Board Member Alfonso Bediones said that he is still running for board member although he serves as the regional coordinator of Sen. Mar Roxas movement for president in the 2010 election.
Bediones, who reacted on the news run by this paper, told this writer that the senator already approved his running for reelection as board member next year.
