Chris Montano of the Commission on Human Rights, said that we should not be contented with the presence of laws and legislatures that protect the rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs). “We have to show them respect. Their privileges must be granted. These laws must be implemented. Ambivalence and indifference towards them can cause a disability in all of us,” he said.
Indeed. PWDs deserve respect and recognition in our society. One of the events that created more awareness on the PWDs capacity as important partners in development, was the holding of the 31st NDPR Week at SM City Iloilo. NDPR stands for National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation.
