DA-6 employees urged not to waive right on housing project
Department of Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR) OIC Land Management Services Mamerto Caballero encouraged the employees of the Department of Agriculture (DA)-6 not to waive their rights to possess a parcel of land in the agriculture’s housing project.
Caballero said the employees of the agriculture department are lucky enough to be given the opportunity to take a piece of lot in the 5-hectare housing project at the Western Visayas Integrated Agricultural Research Center in Hamungaya, Jaro.
DA-6 is the first regional office of the agriculture department to come up with a housing project. They are even ahead of their central office.
Caballero said the DENR which favorably endorsed the conversion of the government property that led to the issuance of Presidential Proclamation No. 1801 do not have the same housing projects for the employees. He made his appeal in last week’s groundbreaking ceremony of the housing project.
Caballero is also the DENR’s chief of survey division. “Do not waive your right to possess parcel of land.” The fee required for each employee for its subdivision plan and titling is less compared to the cost of the property.
The beneficiaries numbering to 300 employees will avail a home lot of 100 square meters. At present, the home lot is valued at P250,000.
The site for the housing project used to be an agricultural land and converted into a residential area. Its conversion was approved by the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).
Caballero said the price of the property will increase since the housing project site is considered as development area with the construction of a circumferential road to the Iloilo airport with international standard.
Of the five hectares, three hectares is allocated for the housing project while the remaining two hectares is intended for its land development which includes road networks, sewerage system, parks, lighting system among others.
The P5,000 fee required for each employee for the subdivision plan and titling of the property is less compared to the cost of the property. In five years time, the cost of the property will increase, Caballero projected.
The housing project will benefit 300 employees of the DA regional field office. The beneficiaries are permanent and casual employees with at least five years of employment as of June 30,2003; those with five years employment from June 30,2003 or earlier to July 20,2009 and those who retired from service effective July 1,2003 to July 20,2009 and with at least five years of employment.
