Rock, Roll and Register: A night of music and culture

On August 29, 2009, First Time Voters (FTV Network, an alliance of non-government organizations and student councils nationwide that aims to promote the youth’s participation in the upcoming 2010 elections, will be holding a cultural revolution with the title, Rock. Roll. Register.
To be celebrated at the event are the works of young artists who serve as vanguards of Iloilo culture as protectors of development and local pride. The revolution will be held at Boardwalk Iloilo from 6PM until midnight. It will showcase Ilonggo bands, photographers, visual artists, fashion designers, and dancers. In addition, a food fair shall also be placed courtesy of Ilonggo restaurateurs.

The First Time Voters Project (FTV) is a network of organizations and individuals that advocates meaningful participation of young citizens aged 15-21 years. It pushes for electoral and political reforms necessary for the democratization and social inclusion of the youth.
It is a continuing process of developing a new generation of voters who exercise their right to suffrage and maximize such potent tools in determining the fate of the country and their future.

What to expect at the event:
The food fair starts at 6 PM and program proper starts at 8PM
Henna Tattoo. At least five henna tattoo artists from Alima Artist Group of West Visayas State University and from United Art Society will participate.
Street Painting. The United Architects of the Philippines Student Auxiliary of the University of San Agustin will be painting the streets
Photography Exhibit. PH Shutterbugz and CPU Fotografia will be exhibiting their creative shots.
Fashion Show. Eight members of Young Designers of Iloilo will be having a fashion show on the theme “revolution.”
Band Performances. RockED-affiliated bands will be performing (Khamulang, The Liberty Jam, Juxtapose, Jointventure, Factory Overhead, Children’s Playground)
Dance Performances by the UP Hublag Dance Troupe.
