Romblon-based bancas banned in Boracay’s white beach
BORACAY ISLAND, Aklan – The management of the Caticlan-Cagban Jetty Port is firm on its stand not to allow motor bancas from Romblon to load or unload passengers along the white beach of Boracay.
Jetty port administrator Niven Maquirang said he was notified about the request of the local government of San Jose, Romblon asking Malay Mayor Ciceron Cawaling permission to allow the docking of their motor bancas along the white beach of this resort island.
The request was contained in a resolution that has reached the attention of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aklan.
Maquirang said that the motorbanca operators should load or unload their passengers at the jetty port of Cagban since the Aklan provincial government is strictly implementing a “One Entry One Exit” policy.
Similar request was made by motor banca operators ferrying passengers from Carabao Island situated just across Boracay. (PNA)
