Del Rosario, Bermejo dare each other to bare projects
ROXAS CITY – City Mayor Vicente Bermejo and 1st District Congressman Antonio del Rosario have challenged each other to show their projects sourced from their respective funds.
Earlier, Bermejo said during his weekly coffee talk with the local media that he dared Del Rosario to show his projects from his Priority Development Assistance Funds (PDAF) or pork barrel so that he will also do the same from his 20 percent Development Fund.
“He (Del Rosario) asked me where I spent my 20 percent Development Funds, why doesn’t he show first his projects,” Bermejo dared to Del Rosario.
Bermejo, who is in his first term as city mayor, is proud of his projects such as lighting of city streets, renovation of city hall, concreting of roads, acquisition of heavy equipment, flood control, relocation site of 1,300 informal settlers, etc.
Presently, the mayor also said that some P230 million funds is still intact at the city government.
Bermejo also hit the congressman for not marking his project billboards with the scope of work and the project cost.
On his part, Del Rosario accepted Bermejo’s challenge over RMN-dyVR Roxas.
According to him, Bermejo’s projects from his 20 % Dev’t Fund from 2008 and 2009 reached to almost P100 million.
Del Rosario accused Bermejo of having double sourcing of funds for his various projects especially in the city street lightings where the mayor allegedly sourced the funds from the mayor’s office and also from the engineer’s office.
Del Rosario, who finished his three terms as city mayor, is also proud that during his stint, he used his 20 % Dev’t Fund for the construction of Libas Fishing Port, People’s Park in Baybay, construction of Teodoro Arcenas Trade Center, slaughterhouse, concreting of barangays roads, Paseo de Cathedral, City plaza tiles, etc.
Del Rosario is likewise proud that during his term as mayor Roxas City was the hall of famer as the‘Cleanest and Greenest” city.
The 1st district solon cited that his P70 million pork barrel was used for projects like the concreting of barangay roads, multicab patrols, P100 million Pontevedra Bridge, P9 million Pilar fishing port, P200,000 funds for hard infra of every barangays in the 1st district, among others.
Meanwhile, 1st Engineering District Engr. Bayani Bukas, who defended Del Rosario on the issue, said that the billboard which has no details of scope of works and project cost is the standard used by DPWH nationwide.
