Lapus to recall order transferring DepEd top officials?
BACOLOD CITY – Reports circulated yesterday that Education Secretary Jesli Lapus would recall his order reassigning Negros Occidental Schools Division Superintendent Rizalino Tortosa to the Division of Bacolod City and transferring Bacolod Schools Superintendent Milagros Gonzales to the province.
Negros Occidental High School principal Mario Amaca, in an interview yesterday, said that they got information that Sec. Lapus would be lifting his order after they made a personal appeal to the secretary’s office.
Earlier, different associations, organizations and federations of the Division of Negros Occidental as well as teaching and non-teaching personnel signed a letter appealing to Lapus to retain Tortosa as provincial schools division head.
Amaca stated that Tortosa is a big help to the province and his premature reassignment may cause demoralization among his subordinates.
Tortosa served the provincial DepEd for only 17 months, very early for him to be reassigned since the usual tour of duty ends if it reaches more than 3 years, said Amaca.
Governor Isidro Zayco recently said he will write DepEd asking Lapus to reconsider his previous order.
On the other hand, Sangguniang Panglungsod chairman of the Committee on Education Greg Gasataya made it clear that they heard the reassignment of Gonzales since then.
It is sad to say that there are some politicians who tried to transfer Gonzales, said Gasataya.
Records revealed that Gonzales is the sister of Vice-Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, an ally of Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
“We appeal to DepEd to retain Gonzales on her previous position because she has only 2 years left before her retirement,” Gasataya said.
