Mayor Raul Tupas wins Gawad Parangal award anew
For the second time, Barotac Viejo Mayor Raul “Boboy” Tupas won the Gawad Parangal Award for Outstanding Municipal Mayor in social services.
He first won the Gawad Parangal Award for Outstanding Municipal Mayor in 2005.
Mayor Boboy, together with other awardees, was honored during the 13th National Social Welfare and Development Forum by the host, Association of Social Welfare and Development Officers of the Philippines, Inc., (ALSWDOPI) at the Manila Hotel last August 26.
He received the award together with his wife, LGU Department Heads, Municipal Administrator Harry G. Tupas and members of the Sangguniang Bayan including Vice Mayor Jovino B. Tugbang Jr.
The ALSWDOPI conducts the Gawad Parangal awards annually. Each Local Social Welfare and Development Office was given the chance to nominate for outstanding Governor, City Mayor, Municipal Mayor, MSWDO, CSWDO and Day Care Worker.
The ALSWDOPI created a screening committee that looked into the meritorious activities and programs of the nominees as reflected in their practical and fiscal management in the field of social welfare. They also checked on the remarkable contribution of the nominees in the fields of agriculture, health, infrastructure and treasury.
Two other municipal mayors, Anastacia R. Vistan of Plaridel, Bulacan and Roseller M. Manigsaca of Rizal, Zamboanga Del Norte, won similar award.
Mayor Boboy said the outstanding performance of the Executive branch would not be made possible without the strong support of the Legislative branch of the Local Government Unit (LGU), the industry of the LGU employees and department heads and the comfort and inspiration of his family and his people, the Barotacnons.
Mayor Boboy, who’s graduating from his term and is aiming a higher position in the next polls, said he will continue to work hard for the equitable delivery of social services to the people for as long as he could. (By Lory Ann B. Dumdum)
