Bacolod: Yes to Project YES!
BACOLOD CITY -- The city government under the administration of Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia supports the implementation of “Youth Entrepreneurship and Service” Project or YES Project.
“The city is supporting the project. This is a great way to reach out to our less privileged youth and to provide them with alternative educational opportunities”, Leonardia said.
“Project YES!” is a joint program of the Bacolod City Department of Social Services and Development, Bridging Youth to their Futures Project, Inc., University of Saint La-Salle – Bacolod and the Rotary Club International.
This is an innovative approach to youth development that targets the poorest and most deprived of young people by engaging them in a community service learning experience, entrepreneurship and access to resources that will bridge their way to continuing their education and realizing their full human potentials.
There are 100 out of school youth, disadvantaged youth, youth at risk, in Bacolod City that will be targeted to participate and benefit from the project.
At the end of 18 months of implementation, the beneficiaries should be equipped with entrepreneurial skills, knowledge and competencies; provided with capital resources, nurtured with leadership and life skills; provided with learning activities; and empowered as agents of change and development.
Moreover, Leonardia said, this will transform the lives of our young people to be productive and bring positive changes to the city and to our society as a whole.
