Capiceño spiritual leaders welcome ‘Day of Prayer’
ROXAS CITY – Various spiritual leaders in the province are glad in view of the declaration of September 12 as National Day of Prayer for Peace and Sanctification of Spiritual Leaders.
“We are for that,” said Capiz Evangelical Church Senior Pastor and Convention Baptist Ministers Association (CBMA) former President George Parcia.
CBMA – Capiz Chapter is composed of more than 50 churches of Philippine Baptist Churches Inc. provincewide.
For his part, Capiz Archdiocese Vicar-General Monsignor Vicente Hilata said that a prayer is always important but he has to check the details and objectives of the upcoming Day.
President Gloria Macapagal – Arroyo has declared Sept. 12 as National Day of Prayer for Peace and Sanctification of Spiritual Leaders through Proclamation No. 1869, signed last Aug. 29, to promote peace and unity among the Filipino people as a national responsibility.
It will be a regular working day, the Proclamation noted.
“There is need to pray for grace for the sanctification of our spiritual leaders to enable them to inspire and set a compassionate and moral leadership among our people,” the President stressed.
With the many challenges faced by the nation, she said Filipinos should set aside their differences and join hands to work towards the common good.
She pointed out a day devoted to prayer for peace and unity and sanctification of spiritual leaders may serve to further these goals. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
