RES GESTAE
Opportunity
I’ve been into baking since the past couple of months. And I do it seriously as I never did before. The reason: I want to earn extra income out of this new venture.
I got a recipe of cassava cake from my sister, Inday, and introduced innovations into it until I created a mouth-watering cassava cake. My wife says so. My three-year old daughter loves every bite of it. Those who tried it ordered for more plates… and regularly place their orders.
So far, it pays well.
My customers are growing everyday. And I now start putting limits on the orders for a day. While I take baking seriously, I don’t intend to make it my first priority (maybe for now).
There are people who said I’m desperate to earn millions the fastest and all means possible. While they may have reason for saying so, it is not my motivation.
I experienced financial constraints after some emergencies hit the family. I have to do something before we run out of our resources. Then, baking offers me the opportunity.
With it, I learned: adversity is never a curse; it is a blessing in disguise.
I also never imagined that baking is very interesting, until I have my hands on it.
As first timer, I have to experience birth pains. I burned my hair... messed up the kitchen.. broke the spatula... spilled over the ingredients... It was really back-breaking.
But, coming up with a masterpiece was worth it all.
Baking is now one thing I cannot pass the night without. It is maybe out of the realization that I must not disappoint those who placed their orders for tomorrow’s cassava cake. Maybe it is also because the thought of earning additional bucks is really tempting, motivating.
I can’t tell how long will my baking-venture go. It may last a few months… a year… or could be a serous business venture soon. Nobody really knows. I am only optimistic that as long as people are delighted with my cassava cake and place their orders regularly… my baking can go a long way.
I have high hopes that I can grow big with plates of cassava cakes everyday. And, should it happen, I would never forget this lesson: that nothing happens for no reason. Everything in life always comes with an opportunity.
