Nature, Bees and You
Discover the Pinewoods Bee Park in Guimaras
Arsenio Gaitan, owner and managing
director of Pinewoods Bee Park.
An invitation to the new business venture of our former high school classmate, Arsenio “Arsan” Gaitan, led us to the Pinewoods Bee Park in Jordan, Guimaras.
We welcomed by no less than Arsan. Around us were lush greenery – plants and shrubs that were beautifully landscaped with the wide lawn and the refreshing mini waterfalls and pond. The tall trees were swaying while its fresh smell mixed with the coolness of the breeze kissed our cheeks. At one side of the lawn were wooden chairs and lounges decorated with stuff that Arsan bought from Malaysia and some antique items owned by the family. At the other side were different cottages–dining areas and the bar. The bar was just perfect. It’s a haven of different exciting local and imported beverages. The restaurant offers salads, appetizers, entrees, pasta, soup and more. Some of the vegetable ingredients are being sourced from the veggie garden in the area.

According to Arsan, guest suites and a spa will soon rise on the site. Now, that’s an even more attractive idea.
But what really sets the park apart is that it’s home to numerous honeybees and that honey is being produced here. In the afternoon, bees were flying around us. Arsan said that during that time, the bees go out and pollinate flowers. Before dusk, they return to their homes. I learned that the honeybees are harmless. In fact, they are a big help to the environment. The bees are important pollinators that can increase one’s harvest to 30 percent. “This is the family’s contribution to our efforts to battle global warming,” said Arsan.

The opening of the Pinewoods Bee park is a new milestone in the history of Guimaras. Governor Felipe Nava said that Arsan and the Gaitan family had been helping the local government in its varied programs, which had contributed to the good of Guimaras.
With honey being produced, Pinewoods Bee Park will soon make available some food and other stuff that are byproducts of the honey-making process.
Pinewoods Bee Park is located at Jordan, Guimaras, just a 10-minute drive from the Jordan Wharf. Come and visit and see how this remarkable place can do you wonders.
