BIR’s ‘Oplan Kandado’ temporarily closed 4 establishments
BACOLOD CITY — Oplan Kandado program of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) again operated in the province of Negros Occidental temporarily closing four business establishments in the cities of San Carlos, Bago, and Kabankalan.
In San Carlos City two establishments have been temporarily closed, namely, BSN Drugstore and the Domingo Trining Store. The two according to revenue district officer RD 76 Cynthia Cabuguas failed to file some of their value added tax returns and understated their sales by more than 30 percent.
In Bago City, L3J General Merchandise at 4th Street, Marhil Subdivision, failed to submit the 2008 taxable year returns and for the second quarter of 2009 amounting to almost P1 million.
For failure to declare their 2008 taxable year returns and the second quarter this year amounting to more than P1.5 million, the Cha-Rose Grocery at the Kabankalan City Public Market was also temporarily closed.
Bago and Kabankalan cities is under Revenue District 78 headed by Arturo Acabal.
As part of the procedure, the temporary closure of these establishments will run for at least five days and will be lifted upon their compliance with the requirements stated by the commissioner in the closure order.
The Oplan Kandado is a strategy of the BIR to urge taxpayers to file their VAT revenues, declare their sales properly, and to issue receipts for every purchase of consumers.
