Masskara 2009 promises to be most-photographed edition
The 2009 MassKara Festival promises to be a most photographed edition with almost 1,000 photographers from the different parts of the country and the world signifying their desire to come over to capture the colorful festivity in pictures.
Festival director Eli Tajanlangit disclosed that “it’s a problem, but a nice one,” referring to the possible difficulty of hosting them, especially in providing them space during the events. “But we will try to accommodate them as much as we can, subject of course to the physical limitations,” he said.
Priority will be given to photographers connected with the media, including those in cyberspace, festival sponsors, photography and camera club and on-line sites. Certifications and proofs of this will be required from those who seek accreditation. Inquiries may be addressed to admin@masskarabacolod.com or at the festival office at the Bacolod Tourism Center in San Juan Street with telephone number 4337362.
Visual spectacles await local and foreign tourists including the visiting photographers during the 30th MassKara Festival and 71st Charter Anniversary of Bacolod City from Oct. 1 – 19, 2009.
For instance, the annual Magica MassKara of Bacolod’s top visual artists will go beyond the gallery space and for the first time, “go public,” Tajanlangit said. The 6th Magica MassKara chaired by internationally known Bacolod artist Charlie Co will premiere at the public plaza on Oct. 14, 8 p.m. It will be a mobile exhibition that will include performing artists.
Also promising to provide loads of exciting snapshots are colorful activities such as the 3rd Electric MassKara at Lacson street, the MassKara Queen pageant, nightly happenings at the Bacolod public plaza, the streetdancing competitions, and the Countdown to the 71st Charter Anniversary at the New Government Center on Oct. 19.
