PNGOC sets media workshop on responsible parenthood advocacy
A three-day workshop in Bacolod City has been set for select members of the national and local media. Aimed at enhancing the advocacy on responsible parenthood thru natural family planning, the event is led by the Philippine NGO Council on Population, Health and Welfare Inc. (PNGOC).
Said media workshop is also in partnership with the Commission on Population (POPCOM) slated on September 30th to October 2nd.
“The three-day workshop aims to equip journalists with a basic understanding on population and development, responsible parenthood and natural family planning,” said PNGOC Executive Director Eden Divinagracia.
…As WB exec graces ‘education summit’ with Visayas execs
World Bank (WB) Country Director Bert Hofman led Thursday’s one-day “convergence and fellowship” of Visayas mayors and members of the region’s academe.
Focused on strengthening “learning communities”, the meeting was conducted by the Synergeia Foundation.
The day heard discussions on best practices, difficulties and unresolved issues by the education sector here.
Hofman in his talk spoke extensively on WB’s current thrust which is making growth work for the poor.
A workshop was also held thereafter that laid down approaches helpful for new mayors and their respective education communities. Further still was the thrust on helping to revive and strengthen education programs.
Such alongside efforts to forge education alliances in the Visayas region.
Iloilo First District Board Member Richard Garin was among those invited. Garin is the current chair of the Committee on Education of the 9th Iloilo Sanggunian Panlalawigan.
Also part of the event was Fifth District Board Member Jett Rojas.
Chairman of the Synergeai Regional Council in the Visayas is Presidential Assistant for Western Visayas Raul Banias.
