Katas ng VAT to benefit some 6,000 senior citizens of Iloilo City
The Katas ng VAT: Tulong Para kay Lolo at Lola project of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is expected to benefit some 6,000 senior citizens from Iloilo City.
City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) Administrative Officer IV Mario Mahinay said they looked forward to complete the distribution of the P500 one-time cash subsidy to qualified senior citizens before end of the year.
Just recently, around 414 beneficiaries from the City Proper district received their P500, which also served as the kick off for the distribution of subsidies that was coursed through the city government.
Mahinay explained they have validated a total of 2,610 excluding the 142 beneficiaries that were validated by the DSWD 6.
The 142 qualified senior citizens from this city were given the subsidy during a ceremonial turn over facilitated by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Field Office 6 before the presence of Vice President Noli de Castro and Secretary Esperanza Cabral.
He added they are now in the process of validating the additional 3,000 recipients who were endorsed by Mayor Jerry P. Treñas.
This coming October they hoped to complete the distribution of subsidies to 2,610 recipients composed of 335 beneficiaries from Arevalo district on Oct 2; 391 beneficiaries from Molo on Oct 8; 498 from Lapaz on Oct 9; 292 from Mandurriao on Oct 15 and 680 from Jaro on Oct 16.
