Sapian First Lady leads livelihood training
SAPIAN, Capiz – Believing that education is the key to success, Sapian First Lady Inday Vangie Orosoco, Ph.D., led the livelihood training program for the Sapianons which started last Sunday and will end on Friday.
Dubbed as “Mayor Arturo Orosco, Sr. Programang Pangkabuhayan”, the training is sponsored by Pasig-Mandaluyong-Marikina-San Juan (Pamamarisan) and TESDA where 12 livelihood courses were offered to the participants.
The Orosco couple, who owns St. Francis of Assisi school in Manila, said that through the trainings their constituents could have livelihood which can sustain their families.
Mr. Danilo J. Solis, student affairs coordinator of St. Francis of Assisi, Las Piñas main campus, said that the 12 courses being taught for 6 days training are: Cellphone repair, house keeping, bar tender, food processing, dress making, motorcycle engine trouble shooting, flower arrangement, welding technology, hair cutting, manicure and pedicure and massage therapy.
According to him, some 300 participants during the first batch have successfully graduated and landed a sustainable livelihood through training while some 350 participants who underwent training are expected to succeed, too.
He added that there is an on-going construction of a building for the use of welding technology which is first-ever training center in Sapian and in the province of Capiz.
Solis said that the 2nd batch of livelihood training is in response to the request of Sapianons who also wanted to undergo training.
Mrs. Remedios Olivera, sister-in-law of former Mayor Remedios Oñas and administrator of Pasig Institute of Technology, said that the livelihood training program is the transfer of technology from Manila to Sapian.
