No add’l fees for firearms amnesty – PRO 6
Other than the P1,000.00 for the “unregistered” firearms and P650.00 for those registered firearms but with expired licenses, no other fees will be collected from applicants of firearm amnesty.
This clarification was contained in the supplemental guidelines issued recently by Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) through its Firearms, Explosives, Security Agencies and Guards Supervision Section (FESAGSS).
Since August 1, PRO6-FESAGSS accepts applications of gun owners for firearms amnesty pursuant to Executive Order 817.
The implementation of the program is on October 1-30, 2009.
As of Wednesday, 1,225 gun owners regionwide submitted their applications to avail the program.
Record showed that 147of the total number of firearms applied for amnesty are loose or unregistered; while 1,078 firearms have expired licenses.
The supplemental guidelines also clarified that only the “unregistered” firearms being applied for amnesty will be subjected to mandatory ballistic examination (FB Lindero Jr.)
