Thousands avail of PCSOs medical, dental, feeding in WV
Chief lottery operations officer Jeanette T. Oberio of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) in Region 6 said that around 82,513 persons have availed of the medical and dental services extended by the PCSO in line with their “100% in One Day” project.
Oberio said that President Arroyo’s charity program is gaining ground in this part of the country as some 143,388 have availed of the feeding program.
The chief lottery operations officer, who was one of the welcomers of President Arroyo’s recent visit to Iloilo disclosed in a PIA interview that almost 98 percent of the barangays have availed of the feeding program, while 60% have availed of the medical and dental services.
She said that in line with the PCSO’s program, they have targeted 4,071 barangays in Western Visayas, emphasizing that the over-all total of the beneficiaries in the region will be known at the end of the month.
The PCSO press report disclosed that “100 Percent in One Day” project, is a nationwide medical, dental and information-based mission aims to cover all of the country’s 41,995 barangays.
General Manager and Vice Chair Rosario Uriarte.said this is a first-of-its-kind project in the Philippines that provides fast access to medical and charity care from PCSO and its partners to poor Filipinos all over the country.
Aside from general checkups and minor surgeries, eye examinations, bone scan and ear check monitor will be available in selected medical mission sites located in government hospitals and rural clinics.
Medicines distributed free to patients at the sites include amoxicillin drops, capsules and suspension; metropolol tablets; mefenamic acid, paracetamol drops and tablets; and ascorbic drops, tablets and syrups, the PCSO press report disclosed. (PIA6/T.Villavert)
