Anti-illegal drugs crusader cop dies
ROXAS CITY – A police official died Sunday morning at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the St. Anthony College Hospital after he was admitted last Tuesday for suffering stroke.
Supt. Josephus Angan, Capiz PNP director, said that he was together with Alba when the latter suffered stroke during the police mandatory physical fitness last Sept. 22 at Villareal Stadium.
The remains of Supt. Ricardo “Ricbot” Alba of Malipayon Village, Brgy. Tiza this city now lies in state at the Divine Jesus Memorial Park in Brgy. Banica here. He was 45 years old.
Alba is known to be a crusader of illegal drugs and guns as he frequently raided illegal drug pushers and illegal gun holders.
Alba entered police service on April 1, 1986 as PC/INP field force Recom 6 with a rank of patrolman as his first assignment. His second assignment was at Pontevedra police station designated as investigator with the rank of PFC.
Alba was a lateral entry when promoted as police inspector in 1993 after he passed the board exam for electric engineer and assigned at NHO, Camp Crame as Commel.
He was also assigned at Palo, Leyte as communication electronic office and reassigned at PROG as commel officer.
The police officer was also assigned as police chief of Mambusao Police station during the time of former Mayor Carolina Bayot and provincial special operation GRP chief from 1992-1994.
He was also assigned as police chief of Panitan and concurrent complan white stone as deputized by PDEA.
As an illegal drugs crusader Alba usually serves as resource speaker of anti illegal drug symposium by Kilos-Laya Laban sa Druga (Kill Droga) led by its provincial chair Mr, Angel Celino.
He had been also at PRO6 as deputy 2 and Capiz PPO as deputy provincial director.
Before his death, Alba was the 605th 2nd Mobile Group as GRP Director and concurrent police chief of Cuartero police station.
