City gov’t conducts solid waste IEC in Brgy. Alangilan
BACOLOD CITY — The Bacolod City Solid Waste Coordinating Committee conducted last Saturday in Barangay Alangilan an information and education campaign on solid waste management.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia has directed the committee to continue the information campaign among residents of the city so as to remind them of their responsibility in the proper implementation of the solid waste management law.
The campaign, led by Secretary to the Mayor Vicente Petierre III, was aimed to create awareness among barangay residents on the proper solid waste management and segregation. Petierre said that the active cooperation of the residents from the 61 barangays in the city’s solid waste management campaign is crucial in the implementation of Republic Act 9003 or the Solid Waste Management Act.
The IEC included the orientation on the “no segregation, no collection” policy implemented by the City Government since April 1 and the alarming effects to health and society of improper solid waste segregation.
Barangay Alangilan Captain Deggie Tanista assured that they will implement and follow the law in their barangay and encouraged residents to always adhere to proper solid waste segregation.
