Masskara kiosks to open tomorrow until Oct. 19
BACOLOD CITY — Masskara Festival Committee chairman Eli Francis Tajanlangit confirmed yesterday that they are now fully prepared for the opening of 30th Masskara Festival tomorrow October 1, 2009 with the opening of all Masskara kiosks at the Bacolod City Public Plaza which is the traditional masskara festival site.
Tajanlangit said they already sat down with all kiosk operators and the latter vowed to set up their kiosks and be completed today for the opening salvo tomorrow.
He said that there will be a simple ceremony this Wednesday to be led by Mayor Evelio Leonardia who will also declare the 30th Masskara Festival officially open.
Tajanlangit said that they will put up two concert stages and this will be situated at Gatuslao St. and San Juan during to Masskara Opening.
“The Masskara Festival Committee adopted a theme ‘Celebrating 30 years of Smile’ this year,” Tajanlangit said. He described this year’s Masskara as light-hearted with a logo background of white which rekindles the first year of Masskara as bombarded with tragedy and events.
Tajanlangit wants this year’s Masskara as lighthearted since “we are facing a global recession although we maintain this as always colorful.”
He assured the public that the traffic will run smoothly since he already coordinated with the Bacolod Traffic Authority (BTA) led by Senior Inspector Levy Pangue. “As usual the Gatuslao and San Juan streets will be closed at 4:00 o’clock every afternoon starting October 1,” Tajanlangit said.
He is very confident that Station 1 Commander Sr. Inspector Luisito Acebuche will do its best to make this Masskara Festival peaceful as what he did last year. “We hope that Acebuche will make this year’s Masskara peaceful as what he did last year with zero-crime reported within the vicinity of Bacolod City public plaza,” Tajanlangit added.
