Oratio Imperata; Let us also help
As suggested and submitted to me, I approved that the following Oratio Imperata be prayed by/in all parishes and by all other prayer groups: Stewardship of creation against inclement weather.
Oratio Imperata
Almighty father, we raise our hearts to you in gratitude/for the wonders of creation of which we are part/ for your providence that sustains us in our needs/ and for your wisdom that guides the course of the universe.
We acknowledge our sins against you and the rest of creation.// we have not been good stewards of nature. We have confused your command to subdue the earth.//
The environment is made to suffer our wrongdoings and now we reap the harvest of our abuse & indifference. Global warming is upon us. Typhoons, rains, floods, drought, volcanic eruption and other calamities occur in increasing number & intensity.
We turn to you our loving father and beg forgiveness for our sins. We ask that we, our loved ones and our hard-earned possessions be spared from the threat of calamities, natural and man-made. We beseech you to inspire us all to grow into responsible stewards of your creation and generous neighbors to those in need.
This we pray through christ our lord. Amen.
Our lady of salvation, pray for us. (May be substituted with the patron saint of the parish)
While we are grateful for the wonders of creation, we must accept that in some way we have also been careless about taking care of the environment. While sorry for our negligence, we appeal for the mercy of God that we may be preserved from the calamities, natural and man-made.
Let us also help
Just as we had been helped when typhoon Frank hit Iloilo in June 2008, now it is our turn to help the victims of typhoon Ondoy.
Let there be collections gathered from all the parishes and religious organizations of the Archdiocese. These will be undertaken, supervised and collected by our Jaro Archdiocesan Social Action Center (JASAC) as soon as possible. In turn these will be sent either to NASSA or dioceses that have been hit by typhoon Ondoy.
DEADLINE of submission of our Help: Friday, October 30, 2009.
Let us remember what was said in PCP-II “In the Church, no one is so poor as to have nothing to give, no one is so rich as to have nothing to receive.” (No. 98).
God help us.
