JPT will run for congressman
Mayor Jerry Treñas will run for congressman. Why? Because when he was asked by the media of his reaction on the signature campaign being waged by the Sulong Iloilo Movement for him to run for congressman he simply said: “Gapasalamat ako sa ila ginahimo nga pagtib-ong sa akun... tan-awon ta. (I thank them for endorsing me... let’s see).” Repeat, he said “tan-awon ta.” If he does not want to run for congressman he could have strongly said: “Thanks, but no thanks...” (to that effect). What do you think Atty. Dan of Noynoy Aquino for President Movement?
Guv’s bodyguard punches Romac guy

Tsk... tsk... Kapintas man sang bodyguard ba.

I have not heard recently about the plan to construct a coal powered plant at Jereos, La Paz, Iloilo City. I would assume there had been studies made on the impact of the plant to the human inhabitants, and the environment of the barangay and the island.
Coal powered plants not only produce suffocating smoke that results into acid rain it also produce tons of coal ash which is very acidic and dangerous to humans, animals and the environment. When ash from a small stove is combined with water it produces lye which is very corrosive. Magnify that a million times and you can imagine the scale of destruction it will bring to your barangay. Are you willing to accept that? —Juan Luna Ibarrizto

I just finished reading the review of Zenaida French on the above play (Rizal is my President). (TNT, Sept. 25-27, 2009)
Students who will, for the first time, vote on May 10, 2010, need sustained motivation in choosing candidates with unquestionable integrity, honesty and passion for change.
Can this play be shown in schools particularly those with students who are first time voters? Doubtless, it can be a timely reminder for them to elect local and national candidates with honesty, integrity and the passion to selflessly render public service–a seachange in Philippine governance. —Atty.
