Sapian sustains clean and green activities
ROXAS CITY – First Lady Vangie Oñas Orosco said that Sapian town maintains its cleanliness program although there is no clean and green contest.
According to her, the cleaning and greening of Sapian is one of the top priorities of Mayor Arturo Orosco, Sr, her husband, which is being led by the Golden Ladies and Yellow Bells women associations.
She said that golden ladies are women who are 40 yrs old and above while yellow bells are 18-39 years old.
Inday Vangie, who is founder of women’s associations, said that the said groups are cleaning and planting tress.
The move of the first lady is part of her concern on environmental aspect of the town’s management which according to her, will contribute to avoid flash floods and minimize global warming.
In 1998, Sapian won as Cleanest and Greenest municipality in the national level contest during the stint of her mother former Mayor Remedios Oñas. The prize of P1 million was used to develop the public market and abattoir.
Meanwhile, Mayor Orosco revealed that the St. Francis of Asisi School in Alabang and Taguig campuses extended relief operations for the flood victims brought about by Typhoon Ondoy last week.
The Orosco couple, who owns school campuses, said that the relief operations were in form of groceries and used clothing.
