Tanco assures enough supply of rice, livestock in Capiz
ROXAS CITY – Capiz Governor Victor Tanco, Sr. has assured enough supply of rice, corn and livestock in Capiz despite the typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng calamity in Luzon which triggered rice shortage nationwide.
Tanco said an interview with the local media that the National Food Authority (NFA) has a buffer stock of three months for the consumption of the Capizeños.
Earlier, Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Arthur Yap said that there will be rice shortage in the country particularly in Luzon where a series of typhoons caused floods which affected rice productions.
Tanco said, he advised the NFA to maintain a buffer stock so that Capiz province will not experience scarcity of rice supply.
The Capiz governor also assured a stable fish and poultry supply in the province.
Meanwhile, Tanco said that the province is conducting price monitoring of business establishments which might take advantage of the calamity situation.
