Noynoy expects to talk to his Uncle Danding
Liberal Party stalwart Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino, III said that he never had the chance to talk to his uncle former Ambassador Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco regarding his presidential bid comes 2010 elections.
“We never had the chance to talk but at the end of the day, we have to talk to each other. I never had the opportunity now to do so. But I’m expecting that we will be given the chance to talk. He’s my uncle and I will not presume to tell an elder what to do,” he said.
Sen. Aquino and his running mate Sen. Manuel “Mar” Roxas, LP’s Vice Presidential timber with AKBAYAN Partylist Rep. Risa Hontiveros-Baraquel were in the province Thursday last week.
They went to the cities of Talisay and Bago and at the University of St. La Salle coliseum in Bacolod City for a wide range of public consultations.
Noynoy said that he is humble enough to say that he wants to be more prepared to be the next President of the country.
He became Congressman in 1998 and he has known a lot of facets of running the government including the ills of the system and the corrections that will have to do.
“I’m very much ready to tap all the experts that are made available to me. I have gone through the national government relations. We’re paying attention to the needs of the education sectors and is coming up with the platform of revenue generations, have extensive studies on the Mindanao conflict, health issues and others,” he said.
When asked if his youngest sister Kris Aquino-Yap will serve as his First Lady when he becomes President, he said that if there are occasions that need a First Lady, any of his four sisters can be asked to attend to like the wife of a visiting dignitary, “I’m sure that I can prevail in one of them if not all of them,” he said.
Sen. Mar Roxas said that Noynoy is very humble and trustworthy. He has no record of being involved in anomalies like sugar smuggling, fertilizer scam, NBN-ZTE deal, any corruption issue, among others.
He wants a clean, honest righteous government. In his 11 years in public service, he was very firm to say No to temptations and side deals in government. “We need a leader who is righteous and have a heart for public service.”
Moreover, the volunteers for the Noy-Mar tandem are multiplying or increasing every day. There are Pinoys in America who find their way to get in touch with them. Wherever they go, there are volunteers who are much willing to help them advance their campaign for the 2010 elections.
Aquino said that he will follow his conscience when he leads the country. He stands up for the decision he makes. He starts with knowing what’s right or wrong and starts his decision from there and should be for the greater good.
Meanwhile, they will come up with joint statements along with all the presidentiables that they will work for clean and honest elections. They will guard the ballots, the automation and will guard against the possibility of a failure of elections or no elections at all.
