Sen. Roxas to allies: Show your political colors
ROXAS CITY — Sen. Mar Roxas told allies to show their political colors so that he can draw the line as to who are enemies and the real allies among members of the Liberal Party (LP).
This was declared by the senator during his visit in Roxas City last Saturday along with other senatoriables under their slate.
“If you no longer want my leadership, then just make your own,” Roxas said referring to those allies who are reportedly with other party.
According to him, if some allies are already on the other party then so be it, “thank you and we can shake hands,” Roxas said adding that he doesn’t want allies to have two lovers.
“Di pwede ang may querida (mistress is not allowed), and I will not do it since Korina will fire me,” Roxas jokingly said.
Roxas did not mention those allies but political observers believed that he referred to City Mayor Vicente Bermejo, Vice Gov. Felipe Barredo, former city councilor Mark Ortiz and other city councilors who are LP members but who were not around.
The senator got irked to know that Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) who are supposed to attend the Noynoy-Mar consultation were allegedly barred from attending by city government.
Asked what is the basis in selecting their local bets, Roxas said that he will not select allies who are thieves and who will steal the people’s money.
Roxas is referring to Department of Agriculture (DA) Usec. Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante, vice chair of Ugyon Kita Capiz Party, whom he grilled during the senate blue ribbon hearing relative to the P728 million fertilizer scam.
Roxas, who recently declared his intention to run as vice president as running mate of Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, said that he will borrow funds from his sister Rhea Roxas Ojeda to ensure the victory of his bets in the 2010 election.
“I assure you that this is the fight that we can win against our political enemies because they are bad and we are straight,” Roxas told allies at his residence last Saturday night.
Roxas and Aquino visited Western Visayas for sorties October 8 in Bacolod and October 9 in Iloilo province however, the duo canceled their sorties in Capiz and Aklan after Aquino flew back to Manila last Friday because his hometown in Tarlac was submerged by water due to typhoon “Pepeng”.
Late Friday afternoon, Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr. advised that all activities of Noynoy-Mar in Capiz were all canceled since they will go back to Manila however, supporters were surprised that only Noynoy returned to Manila while Mar proceeded here to meet with allies at his residence in Baybay.
